Men of IPC

Welcome to Ignatius Park College

Catholic Education Townsville

Ignatius Park College is proudly dedicated to boys: their spiritual, academic, social, and physical growth as they approach maturity.

We are committed to creating an environment in which the safety, wellbeing and participation of all students are paramount.

The College’s changing academic programs revolve around a recognition that boys think and learn differently from girls. Our routines and curriculum are therefore carefully structured to allow maximum personal growth within an environment tailored specifically to cater for boys’ academic, physical, and emotional development.

As Townsville’s only boys' school, we are uniquely placed to cater for their specific needs.

Our Principal’s Welcome

We continue to be committed to future-proofing generations of young men who will be assets to their communities, workforces, and families.

At IPC, we want our students to flourish beyond the classroom. We always encourage creative thinking, flexibility and determination in all aspects of their lives to foster confidence in young men who know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

At Ignatius Park College, we are Growing Strong Minds and Building a Brotherhood.

A Tailored approach to boys education

A tailored approach to boys’ education involves designing educational strategies and programs that consider the unique learning styles, developmental characteristics, and needs of boys. It’s a fact boys learn differently, and we have to take that into account when teaching by:

  1. Recognising gender differences – Acknowledging that boys learn differently and applying that to our educational approach.
  2. Tailoring our Curriculum – We’ve structured our curriculum to cater for boys’ academic development. Our dedicated teachers have designed courses and teaching methods tailored to how boys learn best.
  3. A Boy-Friendly Pedagogies – We’ve adopted a boy-friendly pedagogy that gives our students the best possible learning outcomes. These methods involve active learning, hands-on experiences and physical activities to engage boys’ interests and learning styles.
  4. A supportive Academic Environment – IPC supports our student's academic environment that fosters personal growth. The environment in which they learn is crucial for helping students thrive academically and personally.

We Help Students Discover & Explore Their Full Potential

We are nurturing critical thinking and creative world views for our IPC Students. As a college, we believe knowledge and education are equally as powerful as the foundational principles that allow our students to excel in relationships and the community at large. We strive to produce young men who are resilient, confident, and ready to enter the world.
