Eddie Rice Day and Cross Country

4th May 2023

1. Celebrating the Feast of Blessed Edmund Rice

In the EREA tradition, Schools worldwide will celebrate the life and vision of their Founder, Blessed Edmund Rice. Edmund Rice started a school for underprivileged boys to gain an education and an innate spiritual understanding of Christ. Much like it was back then, Blessed Edmund's charism and mission are ours - ours to shape and turn into a dynamic, contemporary force. Such a force is very much needed in our complex and fragile world. A world where both its people and its environment need the protection of a courageous, loving hand. Ignatius Park College pride itself in our academic and sporting achievements and our ability to support our broader community in Australia and abroad.

Tomorrow the students will celebrate our founding father, Blessed Edmund Rice, on Founders Day with a morning Mass where we can reflect on our Catholic values and virtues that the College was founded upon,  Followed by some fun and engaging activities.

2. Cross Country

After the Mass in the morning, our Cross Country is always a fantastic competitive event amongst students, and we can't wait to see who will be awarded number 1 tomorrow!

3. Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

Just like we mentioned above, Iggy has a great way of helping that comes forward in leaps and bounds with our students and families, always donating when someone is in need. Tomorrow we are holding a special Sausage Sizzle fundraiser at Morning Tea and Lunch to support the Siete De Agosto Classroom Project, a small school located in Colombia (Amazonas). We encourage you to take the time to watch the below video of the School, and this video showcases precisely how much purchasing a sausage on bread tomorrow will go towards helping!

The Ignatius Park College Community would like to humbly acknowledge the Wulgurukaba peoples on whose land our College is located, as well as the Bindal peoples on whose land many of us live and travel across daily. We respectfully thank the elders of this traditional land both past and present for guiding us through the journey of time to where we are today.
