Rowing

Learn to Row

Ignatius Park College runs an inclusive Rowing program for ALL students in Years 8 - 12.

In Term 1, all new students have the opportunity to participate in a Learn-to-Row program. The program is designed to introduce students to the basic techniques required when on the water.

In Terms 2 & 3, students train on a weekly basis in preparation for competition regattas where students compete against other local schools. The rowing season concludes with the highly anticipated Head of the River, where schools compete for the glorious title.

The rowing crew also have the opportunity to travel to State Competitions for rowing which helps develop their skills even further.

Rowing is excellent for fitness and strength development as it gives students the discipline and guidance to achieve great results both physically and academically. Rowers typically gain a strong team work ethic, and is suitable for students at any level.
