Ensemble Music

Ignatius Park College offers an exciting, free Music Ensemble program with experienced and dedicated musicians.  There are three bands that students can choose to be part of:

  • The Marching Drum Corps
  • The Fire Starters
  • The Flame Riders

Recently established, the Marching Drum Corps rehearses weekly, under the guidance of Mr Andrew Hodgson.  Students from Years 7 to 12 can learn the bass drum, snare drum, tom toms, and cymbals.  In addition to honing their musical skills, band members also develop teamwork, improve their coordination, and forge friendships across different year levels.

Another avenue for our musicians lies in the beginners’ band, The Fire Starters, and the more advanced band, The Flame Riders.  Directed by Mr Cohan Russell, these groups are engaging, with a contemporary focus that appeals to students of all skill levels.  Students can sing and/or play drums, piano, saxophone, trumpet, guitar, bass and other instruments of their choosing. The ensembles rehearse weekly and are committed to several school and public performances each year.  Students rehearse in a relaxed, supportive environment of like-minded individuals.

If you would like to sign your son up to an ensemble, fill out the online form at the bottom of the page.  Please email enquiries to Faculty Leader of the Arts Katrina Guazzo at kg@ipc.qld.edu.au

We respectfully thank the elders of this traditional land both past and present for guiding us through the journey of time to where we are today.
