College Theme

Each year, our Senior students select a theme for their final year of school. This year the College theme is Stay True: Bleed Blue.

 Stay True: Bleed Blue

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:32

This year our college theme is “Stay True: Bleed Blue”. The theme was developed by our 2021 Student Leadership Team and calls us all to recontextualise ourselves as students, staff, parents, and community in today’s world while staying true to our core beliefs, values and traditions.

This year the students have reimagined the phoenix logo that is important to us all as a College community.  The traditional phoenix head leads the way with our important traditions and rituals and in itself is a symbol of truth. Its wings are represented by the House Colours which are used in unison to lift us to places higher than we can imagine but still remining grounded in the truth of our core mission.  Coming from the wings is the blood we should be willing to spill for the park.  Not literal blood, but the pride we all have in this place and for what we are willing to give back.

This scripture aligned to this theme calls us to know the benefit of knowing the truth. Even when truth is not what we want to hear, we can’t expect to make good decisions, correct choices or achieve our goals and leave our legacy when we are not being true to ourselves and the College. Christ states earlier in this dialogue, He – alone – is the light of the world, the one and only means to apprehend truth. True freedom is found in forgiveness and service to others, and this is only found when we accept Jesus.

The Ignatius Park College Community would like to humbly acknowledge the Wulgurukaba peoples on whose land our College is located, as well as the Bindal peoples on whose land many of us live and travel across daily. We respectfully thank the elders of this traditional land both past and present for guiding us through the journey of time to where we are today.
