Film Television and New Media - Real Life Journalism in Action

26th July 2021

Year 11 Film, Television and New Media students took on the role of a film crew as they captured the historic demolition of the Brothers’ House at the College last week. The footage and photographs were then used by local media, 7 News Townsville and the Townsville Bulletin.

The avid photographers and videographers were excited to put into practice the skills and knowledge they have been learning in the subject. They were briefed on safety protocols and discussed with their teacher the best shot types and camera angles to use to capture the demolition.

This was a unique opportunity for the students to have their work published and viewed by the general public.

Film, Television and New Media is an elective subject at the College and students can study this Creative Arts subject in Year 10, 11 and 12. Students who have studied this subject at IPC have gone on to pursue careers in a range of fields including public relations, photography and journalism.

The Ignatius Park College Community would like to humbly acknowledge the Wulgurukaba peoples on whose land our College is located, as well as the Bindal peoples on whose land many of us live and travel across daily. We respectfully thank the elders of this traditional land both past and present for guiding us through the journey of time to where we are today.
