Fiver for the Fire

18th February 2020

Ignatius Park College each year celebrates their Swimming Carnival in style. The boys get involved in the competitive atmosphere of the carnival with plenty of coloured sunscreen and costumes that are of a theme.  Anything from Tradies, Hawaiian dress, outlandish sports persons and or house colours in crazy fashion concepts are worn. The tradition of the carnival goes all the way back to the beginning of the school. The Houses always dare to be different and create house chants that can be heard all the way to Stockland!

However, this year one of the houses, Reid, have taken dressing up to the next level by dressing up with a cause.

‘Fiver for the Fire’, will see 180 boys from the Reid House dressed in Firemen costumes and styles all whilst raising funds for the southern fire victims and animals.  The entire school cohort will likewise support them by bringing a Fiver note and donating to the great cause.

To get things rolling a fire truck with representatives of the Townsville Fire Brigade will be at the school for the house war cry near 8.30am.

The students are hoping to raise well in excess of $2,000.

Mr Chris Rigano, Pastoral Leader of Reid House said, “At Iggy Park being brother is central to our culture. In the word brother is other. I am so proud that the Seniors of the Reid House have used the Swimming Carnival platform to support such a worthy cause.”
